K, was fabulous, attentive and helpful. I hope he's a manager or soon will be.
I had three different orders, 3 different payments, with specifics on each and he nailed it! He was calm patient and attentive. Each order was just as I had requested, with the right sauces and the fresh fries I wanted.
Because of you and you only K, I am giving out my first 5 stars. Popeyes is delicious with flavor, everyone should already know that but getting your money's worth and good service in a fast food restaurant is damn near impossible!
Service was a bit slow but there were a host loads of customer around so yeahhhh.... -

I admit it... despite being a chicken sandwich fanatic, I didn't realize that Popeyes came out with one recently. I don't have TV anymore and didn't see the commercials. And Popeyes was always far away in Troy or Schenectady (so I thought), so they were out of sight, out of mind. But, while listening to ESPN radio recently they started talking about whether the new sandwich was better than Chick-fil- a so I got a thinking.
I decided to bring my wife here Friday night at 7PM to try the sandwich. Unfortunately, the laminated sign inside and out warned that they were facing a national chicken shortage and it could only be ordered before 4PM. I left, but not before getting a fist bump from the Subway sandwich mascot outside (who might have been "higher" than his costume was tall). Running a chicken campaign, then running out of chicken... that alone is worthy of a 1 star review.
But I came back on Sunday at 11:40AM to try again. The line, including those who had already ordered, was 40 people long. The laminated sign now said you had to order before 3PM. And no one, I mean no one, wanted anything but chicken sandwiches. The piles of fried chicken they had in their heating box just stayed there without being touched.
I ordered the spicy sandwich on the recommendation of my line mates, who I got to know well in the 25 minutes it took to get to the cash register. When I got it another 20 minutes later, it was still warm. (You could tell the entire staff was either taking money or just making sandwiches). The chicken was nice and crispy, though not crunchy. The meat was moist, and the bun was substantial. The "spicy" came from a heavy dosing of orange mayo that was supposed to be hot but it wasn't. If this was spicy, I hate to think how lame "regular" would be. I paid $.20 for a side of "sweet heat" sauce which wasn't like Nashville sauce and turned out to be hot honey. It wasn't hot, just honey. Lame. The french fries were coated with stuff and I loved them.
It was an excellent sandwich. However, it wasn't a 45 minute sandwich. Half the tables were unusable to eat in as the line of people made them impossible to get to. The "spicy" wasn't spicy, so it loses a star. The wait was crazy, so it loses a star. But, I will come back sometime and perhaps order it again as it was really good. -

Say what you want about chain fast food restaurants, I've had a lot of fried chicken across this country both from other chains and from local mom and pop locations and Popeye's is simply my favorite fried chicken hands down.
Their spicy crispy is juicy, flavorful, spicy and just delicious. Every bite is a reward for my taste buds drowning out the muffled screams of my left ventricular artery screaming WHY WHY!!!! To which I have an answer... Because that is some really good fried chicken that's why! ***crunch crunchy mmmmm".
Favorite sides that I recommend are their Cajun rice and cinnamon apple pie. Their biscuits are also quite good. Especially when you slather them in honey :)
Clearly this is not the healthy choice but for an occasional guilty pleasure they are worth it. If you are going to indulge, indulge in the right fried chicken. Then shoot over to Olivers near bye and grab a variety six pack for home Netflix and chill on the coach in your stretch pants. -

One recent Friday night, I was having a chicken emergency.
Let's just say that things didn't go as planned with my rotisserie chicken, so I found myself at this Popeyes in a last minute attempt to save dinner and come home with something hot and delicious to feed the kids.
That worked. Thank you Popeyes. Of course, there were upsides as downsides, as there are with every meal.
The good:
The fried chicken was delicious. It was for kids, so we got mild.
The service was fast, friendly, and courteous.
The red beans and rice had the right seasonings and smoke.
The bad:
The biscuits? Skip 'em. Flat, dense, and not worth the calorie hit.
The mashed potatoes were gummy and stiff. Surely there are better sides.
The guilt shouldn't be overlooked. I ate much more chicken than I intended.
The ugly:
The Salt. Man, this stuff is salty. It's part of what makes it good. Just have water on hand.
The menu. Not being familiar with the ordering schemes, I found the menu super complicated.
I ended up ordering way too much food. It had been at least 10 years since I had last stepped foot in a fast food chicken place, so I was a bit out of practice. And now that menus are on TV screens, and those screens keep moving and changing, it just makes matters more complicated for old men like me.
Would I go back? Sure. If there was another similar dinner emergency. Although next time I would be tempted to order by the piece and try some more of their vegetable sides.
I can't be trusted around fried chicken. I will eat it until it's gone. And invariably I'll end up feeling terrible about myself. One piece is plenty. Two pieces should be a feast. But perhaps if I found some good vegetable based sides, I could ultimately figure out how to make a meal of this stuff without a side of self loathing. -

Very small restr. I have been to a lot of popeyes all over the U.S...This Popeyes had an unfriendly staff...First of all, the cashier was trying to put the military discount through, eventually asking for help. I guess they thought that it went through. When I got the receipt, I pointed it out to her, that the receipt doesn't reflect the discount. Then she lied to me by saying "The discount is there, it just doesn't show" Well I'm a teacher, I know math, and this didn't fly w. me..So I questioned her again, she said, "I don't know I just started here." So I asked to see a manager. She should of gotten a manager. Anyway, It took about 4 people to give us the discount. It was not on the receipt and it was never submitted. Eventually we got some cash back, as little as it was. I just wanted to make a point. When the military come in, and order food and use the mil. discount, they should process it correctly for our service members. Management & staff could barely establish eye contact and smile..Food was great as usual. We live in VT. and no Popeyes in VT...Our closest popeyes is 200 miles away and that is Albany, NY...I give this restr. 2 stars for not being very nice and providing good customer service.
